Idea drift as a source of anxiety
Do you have what you think is a great idea, only to leave it behind as you later drift into another?
Yeah, me too.
This can be a significant source of stress and anxiety as you continuously find yourself back in the centre of Square One.
It can also lead to a sense of crying wolf amongst family and friends as you relay yet another idea - eyes roll, and you sense a lack of support.
How you can stick to one idea and make progress (5 key tips)
- What drives you? If it's money, rethink. You need a deeper purpose. Money is a result, not a purpose
- Transform your vision of success into a sense of success. Visions of success are typically materialistic in origin and in the early stages of business development seem too far out of reach. Besides, they never materialise as we imagine them, often leading to disappointment and reduced drive
- Focus on the present. Be mindful of the future, but don't live in it. Progress leads you into the future but only ever lives in the present, and it needs you every step of the way
- Record a video of yourself committing to pursuing your idea and the reasons why. If you feel yourself slipping for no reason other than you have another idea, watch it back
- Take action. No explanation is needed. Go on then
