I have spent so much time tweaking over the years that I should have a certificate on the wall.
Tweaking websites. Tweaking copy. Tweaking ideas. Tweaking figures.
It's endless.
Invariably, the only result of tweaking is a dopamine hit because it makes us feel that we have achieved something. In part, this is true. But tweaking does not deliver results.
Tweaking is busy work.
I have learnt from my predisposition to tweak that I much prefer tweaking to doing the work. But I prefer doing the work to tweaking.
Only the realisation of the futility of tweaking can break this paradox. This comes at the cost of deep frustration caused by the inertia of stagnation - you won't move unless you push yourself.
